Tuesday, 09 February 2010
Brian Wynter, BoJ Governor.Fresh questions have been tabled in the House of Representatives to query the compensation package of Brian Wynter, Governor of the Bank of Jamaica (BoJ).
The issue of the Central Bank Governor's pay package has landed back in the public domain after Prime Minister Bruce Golding announced late last year that his administration decided to dismiss Derrick Lattibeaudiere, former BoJ Governor, because of his high compensation package.
During Tuesday's sitting of Parliament, Natalie Neita Headley, an Opposition Member of Parliament tabled several questions for Minister of Finance Audley Shaw to furnish answers on Governor Wynter's employment contract.
Mrs. Neita Headley is enquiring if the current contract of Governor Wynter is different from that of the previous Governor.
Questions have also been raised about the arrangements for Mr. Wynter's family members who reside in Barbados as well on the Governor's travel arrangements.
Based on Parliament's Standing Orders the questions will remain on the tables of the House for the next 21 days after which Mr. Shaw is expected to provide answers
